Claude Dashboards on Postgres, MySQL and SQL Server

Claude Dashboards turns a question like "how did signups this week compare to last month?" into a live dashboard. Its built-in data connections cover warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery and Redshift, not the PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server database your product runs on. Connect SaturnSQL to Claude and those databases are one sign-in away, without handing anyone the database password.

What Claude Dashboards connects to

Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards in beta in October 2026. According to Anthropic's getting-started guide, it reads from data warehouses (Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake) and from other apps you have connected to Claude. Claude writes a SQL query for each chart, runs it against the source, and shows the query and its last refresh time on the chart.

Transactional databases are not on the warehouse list. SaturnSQL fills that gap: it is a connector you add to Claude, and it runs queries against the databases you have already connected in SaturnSQL.

Set it up

1. Add your database connection in SaturnSQL, over SSL or an SSH tunnel.

2. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors, click Add custom connector, name it SaturnSQL and paste this URL:

https://mcp.saturnsql.com/mcp

3. Click Connect, sign in to SaturnSQL and allow access.

4. Ask for a dashboard in any chat. Name the connection and the tables you mean ("from the production Postgres connection, use the accounts and subscriptions tables"). Anthropic notes that naming the source helps Claude pick the right data.

The full connector walkthrough, including Team and Enterprise workspaces, is on the Claude MCP server page.

Give the team access without sharing the password

Claude dashboards start private, and you share one from its Share button. Anyone on your team who builds or refreshes their own Claude dashboards needs a way into the data. Without a connector, that usually means passing around a connection string.

With SaturnSQL, the way in is a SaturnSQL login. Each teammate adds the same connector and signs in as themselves. They see the connections your team already shares in SaturnSQL, nothing else. The database password stays encrypted in SaturnSQL and never reaches Claude or anyone's laptop.

When a question becomes a weekly report

Anthropic positions Claude Dashboards for quick, exploratory questions. Once the same question comes up every Monday, ask Claude to save the query to SaturnSQL. It lands in your team's shared library, where it can go on a SaturnSQL dashboard or run on a schedule to Google Sheets or Slack, without anyone opening a chat.

Common questions

Which plans do I need? Claude Dashboards is in beta on Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. On Enterprise it is off until an organization owner turns it on under Organization settings → Artifacts. The SaturnSQL connector is included on SaturnSQL Starter and above.

Does Claude see my database password? No. The connection and its credentials stay encrypted in SaturnSQL. Claude signs in with your SaturnSQL account and only receives query results.

Can I check the SQL behind a chart? Yes. Claude writes a SQL query for each chart and shows it next to the chart, along with when the data was last refreshed. Every query runs through SaturnSQL, with the same row limits as the SaturnSQL editor.

Can Claude change or delete data while building a dashboard? Not unless you allow it. New connections start in read-only mode, where every query must be a single SELECT, WITH or EXPLAIN statement. Keep read-only mode on for the connections Claude uses, and connect with a read-only database user as well.

My data is already in BigQuery, Redshift or ClickHouse. Do I need SaturnSQL? Not for Claude Dashboards alone. Claude connects to those warehouses directly. SaturnSQL helps when you also have PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle, or when you want one connector and one set of shared connections for the whole team.
