Nobody leaves Navicat because it is bad. It is one of the most complete desktop database suites there is — and it costs $1,599 per perpetual seat, or $799.99 per user per year, multiplied by every person on the team. The question this page answers is what you actually give up by paying a tenth of that, or nothing at all.
The honest answer: it depends which Navicat you use. If your daily Navicat is queries, table browsing and exports, the free tools below cover you. If it is data transfer, structure sync and modeling across engines, the gap is real and we say so per tool. If the problem is not the client
Every desktop tool above shares Navicat’s shape: software on one laptop, licensed per person, holding queries one person can see. If what pushed you here is the per-seat arithmetic, notice that the seats are the product of that shape — a team of five needs five licences because the tool lives on five machines.
That is the case for a browser-based tool instead. SaturnSQL keeps queries in a shared library the whole team can read, and can run a saved query on a schedule and push the rows into Google Sheets or Slack. If your Navicat work is genuinely the data transfer and sync tooling, keep Navicat — nothing on this list replaces that part.
