TablePlus is a genuinely good desktop client, and most people looking for an alternative are not unhappy with the editor. They have hit one of three walls: the free tier stops at 2 open tabs, the licence is per device so a team pays for it several times over, or they need something TablePlus was never built to do, like running a query on a schedule.
Which wall you hit decides the answer, so this list is grouped that way rather than ranked on a single score. If cost is the problem, two of these are free. If the problem is that the query lives on one laptop, no desktop app on this list will fix it.

What a TablePlus licence actually costs
TablePlus Basic is $99 for one device, Standard is $129 for two, and Team is $79 per seat starting at three seats. All three are perpetual: the app keeps working forever, and the year of updates bundled with the licence is what expires. That is a better deal than any subscription here if you are one person on one machine, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
The arithmetic changes with team size and machine count. A five-person team on Team licences is $395 up front, and a second machine each doubles it. Against that, DBeaver Community Edition is free at any headcount, and a subscription only wins if you need what a desktop app cannot do at all.

If the problem is not the client
Every tool above is a desktop app in the same shape as TablePlus, and swapping one for another does nothing about the two complaints that bring most teams here: the same query gets rewritten by three people because nobody can see anyone else’s work, and the weekly report is still exported by hand.
That is the case for a browser-based tool instead.
